RED CEDAR VENTURES

Red Cedar Ventures (RCV) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Michigan State University Foundation (MSUF). Founded in 2014, RCV is proud to be the first venture fund in Mid-Michigan. RCV’s objective is to help accelerate commercialization of startups emanating from MSU and ecosystem partners. Our vision is to be a leading midwestern venture fund providing economic impact with new technology companies, well-paying jobs and value-added partnerships. Red Cedar Ventures manages three funds: Red Cedar Pre-Seed Fund assists MSU related companies with early-stage funding. Capital and support are provided to start-ups for company formation, minimal viable product, customer pilots and attain other milestones needed to position them for seed financing.

Michigan Rise Pre-Seed Fund is administered by the MSU Foundation on behalf of the state of Michigan, through which the Red Cedar Ventures team assist statewide companies at pre-seed and seed stages. Through investment tranches, funds are provided for start-ups to move beyond a minimal viable product, develop product market fit, hire core team members, and attain other

milestones needed to position them for venture financing.

The MSU Foundation and Red Cedar Ventures are affirmative action, equal-opportunity employers.

Red Cedar Opportunity Fund is a later-stage fund that provides additional funding and support as portfolio companies become de-risked and seek venture funding to scale. RCV provides many resources in addition to funding to help launch entrepreneurial ventures including ongoing coaching, board participation, commercial/market assessment, access to our network, consulting on overall strategy and execution, and MSU related partnership opportunities.
